about dani

“If you do follow your you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Follow your and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be.”

I was born in 1972 and lived in New Jersey until my early twenties with my Mom, Dad and two younger brothers. Movement has always been a very large part of my life.  I started off as a figure skater then studied ballet, jazz and modern for over 20 years. Shortly after graduating from college I was given the opportunity to dance and travel with several different national touring companies based out of NYC and was lucky enough to have met my husband during my last tour of West Side Story.  Eventually I was forced to hang up my dancing shoes after a car accident left me with a low back injury and severe sciatica pain that lasted nearly a decade.

I was first introduced to yoga in college in 1993 shortly after my car accident and did not connect with the practice at first. I thought it was too slow and boring and I wasn’t interested in the breath. In the early 90’s no one practiced yoga in NJ and I knew very little about it.  My only experience was watching the hippie girl in my college dance class stand around in tree pose all the time and we all thought it was strange, it definitely wasn’t for Jersey girls who had giant hair, fake nails and smoked cigarettes.

I was re-introduced to yoga when I moved to LA in 98 and that’s when it really began to change my life. I can still remember the feeling I had after leaving my first yoga class.  I remember walking down Ventura Blvd. and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.  I didn’t know why I felt so happy but I knew something inside me changed that day, it’s as if a spark had been re-lit.  As I began down my own path to healing I completely fell in love with the practice of yoga. I took my first Teacher Training with Maty Ezraty and Chuck Miller, went on to complete the 500hr Professional Program a few years later and eventually became certified.

After teaching in Santa Clarita for 6 years I fulfilled a lifelong dream and founded Just Breathe Yoga Center.  Shortly after my studio opened I found out I was pregnant and YogaWorks announced they were coming to Valencia.  As hard as it was I decided it was best to close my doors and join them when the opportunity to be Teacher Director presented itself to me.  I was responsible for hiring, training and mentoring the teachers for the Valencia location, and eventually became director for the Tarzana location as well.  I continue to teach full time, lead teacher trainings and mentor new teachers. With my background I’m able to infuse the principles of therapeutic yoga along with a strong focus on breath into my most gentle to advanced classes.  I’m extremely passionate about my work and so grateful to have the opportunity to work with so many amazing students. When I’m not teaching or practicing yoga I am with my husband, Saul and our amazing little boy, Lucas.
